Matt Skipper, a retired roofing company executive from the Ft. Worth area, purchased the 1,200 Buffalo 4 Ranch in 2021, to further his love of trophy Whitetail Deer hunting. Matt has hunted around North America, Asia, Africa and New Zealand, taking a good number of big game trophies, but Whitetail hunting is his favorite big game animal. Matt has introduced a number of bred Whitetail does and young Whitetail bucks onto the ranch, enhancing the quality of the genetics on the ranch over the last 4 years.
Johnnie Hudman, Ranch Manager
Raised in Albany, Texas, Johnnie has had a life long passion for wildlife and the outdoors. As a young boy living in the country, Johnnie and his dog scoured the pastures observing nature and learning how plants and animals interacted. Little did he know that this curiosity would be his life’s work. With over 40 years experience in game management, this passion became a career. Enjoying his tenure on several ranches in Shackelford and surrounding counties his objective has always been to improve the wildlife and the land. Johnnie has been the recipient of several Conservation Awards and one of the ranches he managed received the Texas Lone Star Land Steward award.
Johnnie is an avid bird watcher and fisherman, and has been married to his wife Debbe for 53 years. He has 2 Children and 5 Grandchildren

Ranch Photographer & Guide
Jim Kern (Emu), an award winning photographer, is the ranch photographer & videographer as well as a guide on the Buffalo 4 Ranch. Jim was a 3-time American League All-Star pitcher while playing for the Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians. He has owned and operated The Emu Outfitting Co since 1987, offering guided hunting & fishing trips in North & South America. He has held professional hunting and fishing guide licenses in Alaska, Idaho & Montana and has been guiding Whitetail Deer hunts for over 40 yrs.
