The Ranch
The Buffalo4 Ranch, located in Nolan and Runnels counties in Central Texas, is just under 1200 acres with diverse topography and is completely enclosed with a game proof fence. The northern and eastern parts of the ranch are flat and somewhat open as a result of brush control completed around 2013. The southern and western parts of the ranch are covered with hills and rocky outcroppings. The most prominent feature is the 2438 foot Mathis mountain with thick trees and brush cover which offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. From lakes to wind and solar farms and ranches that can be seen miles away, the 360 degree view is breathtaking. Williams Branch, a wet weather creek that runs through the entire ranch, feeds several of the ponds that are located on the ranch. There are five fresh waterwells drilled on the ranch to supply drinking water to the wildlife and cattle. The cattle will utilize the grasses and don’t compete with the wildlife extensively so they are used as a wildlife management tool. Most of the year we don’t have cattle present, but they are stocked on an as needed basis. The vegetation on the ranch is typical of the area and is mostly blue and red berry cedar, mesquite, hackberry, several species of brush, and live oaks. Both native and improved grasses cover the red colored soil. Extensive brush sculpting has been completed, allowing native grasses and plants to reestablish. The ranch is a beautiful example of natural beauty. It has an excellent herd of Whitetail Deer as well as some exotics including Axis Deer, Blackbuck Antelope, and the magnificent Transcaspian Urial Sheep. Wild Boar also inhabit the entire ranch.
